Court of Signs & Witnesses

A court for testing truth by fixed signs and lawful witnesses

Definitions

Truth
Truth is the conformity of the thing signified by the sign used.

Knowledge
Knowledge is the apprehension of the thing signified.

Where the sign does not conform, truth is absent.
Where truth is absent, knowledge is unlawful.

The Appointment of Signs

And Hayah said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and for years. — Genesis 1:14 (Aramaic Bible Series)

The sun, moon, and stars were appointed as signs.
Seasons, days, and years are the things signified.

Time is governed by signs, not invented by man.

What Is Not Commanded

Months are reckoned by order, not by name.

Controlling Statutes

Seasonal Constraint

Observe the month of Aviv and keep the Passover. — Deuteronomy 16:1

Passover must be kept in Aviv.
Seasons do not move.

Ordinal Month Reckoning

This month shall be for you the beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year for you. — Exodus 12:2

The month count was reset.
The seasons were not.

Witness Law

A matter is only established by two or three witnesses.
Single texts do not establish truth.

Inference does not replace testimony.

The Three Witnesses

Where these witnesses agree, the matter stands.

Seasonal Turning Points

The year contains fixed turning points that preserve the seasons.
These turning points anchor the year.

The year does not slide.
The seasons remain fixed.

Intercalation

Any adjustment to the calendar must:

Adjustment without authority is unlawful.

The Great Sin of False Reckoning

Enoch identifies a great sin:
corrupting the reckoning of time.

False reckoning creates false knowledge while appearing correct.
Where knowledge is corrupted, judgment becomes unjust.

Truth stands where signs remain fixed and witnesses agree.
